About Christel

My story is Ward 6's story: I live here, I raise my family here, I work here.

My story

My life was shaped by two places: the Mexico that raised me, and the Canada that welcomed me. I arrived here 21 years ago as a young adult, and Barrie has been home ever since. I'm a parent, and a longtime resident of this city I love.

"I believe deeply in bringing people together, connecting neighbours, supporting people and building relationships that make us feel safe, seen and supported."

What I've done

My career has been about keeping things running and bringing people together. I've held leadership roles in business operations, legal administration and accounting administration — including managing teams at a Canadian retail business. That work taught me how to organize, how to communicate and how to manage a budget, and it gave me real insight into real estate and how communities grow.

Why I'm running

As a parent and a longtime resident, I see the same things you do:

School transportation

Bus routes that don't always meet our children's needs.

School zones

Streets around our schools that feel too busy, too unsafe.

Traffic

Traffic patterns that just don't reflect common sense.

Transit

Transit options that fall short for working people.

I'm running to help build a safe, connected and thriving Ward 6 — where families feel supported, newcomers feel welcomed, and longtime residents feel heard. A community where every family, every neighbour, every child feels supported, welcomed and heard.
